Sossusvlei was definitely one of our favorites places in Namibia to visit, and deserves a full 1-2 days for all that it has to offer.

Sossusvlei is one of the most fascinating destinations in Namibia.

2. Swakopmund

This charming coastal town is one of the most popular places to visit in Namibia, and is the perfect blend of adventure and relaxation. 


Known for its German colonial architecture, Swakopmund is also a hub for adrenaline-filled activities like sandboarding, quad biking, and kayaking in the Atlantic. Its lively cafés, oceanfront promenades, and charming streets make it a must-visit spot in Namibia, and also a great place to base yourself if you are working while traveling.


Additionally, Swakopmund is one of the few places you can enjoy some good nightlife in Namibia, so make sure to head to one of the local bars for some good vibes with the locals!

3. Walvis Bay

A paradise for bird lovers, Walvis Bay is famous for its lagoon, which is home to thousands of flamingos and pelicans. It's also known for its salt mining, and unique pink lake nearby, as well as the starting point for visiting the iconic Sandwich Harbour.


The nearby Pelican Point is a great spot to see seals and dolphins, while kayaking among them is an experience for the bucket list. Explore the bird sanctuary, and also head to The Raft for a unique dining experience on stilts over the Atlantic.

4. Sandwich Harbor

Sandwich Harbour is a truly unique destination where the towering dunes of the Namib Desert meet the Atlantic Ocean. Accessible only by 4x4, this untouched landscape offers breathtaking scenery, thrilling dune drives, and the chance to spot flamingos, seals, and other animals like foxes and impala along the shoreline.


It is highly recommended to do a Sandwich Harbour 4x4 tour to access here, since it can be dangerous to drive on your own.

Sandwich Harbour is one of the most unique landscapes in the world.

5. Spitzkoppe National Park

Known as the ‘Matterhorn of Namibia,’ Spitzkoppe National park features massive granite rock formations and unique desert landscapes. It’s a favorite spot for tourists to hike, go rock climbing, and for stargazing or astrophotography. 


There is also a cultural village, ancient San rock paintings, and local artisans here that add a cultural element to this incredible natural wonder, making it the perfect trip for a variety of travelers.

While many tourists know about Kolmanskop Ghost Town, few talk about the nearby coastal town of Luderitz.


Not only is it a great place to base yourself for going to Kolmanskop, but it has a wide variety of other reasons for visiting.

11. Skeleton Coast

Skeleton coast is one of Namibia's most famous destinations and is its largest national park, spanning a total of 500 km along the country's north west shoreline. This remote and mysterious coastline is famous for its shipwrecks, dense fog, and desolate beauty, and is home to the largest ship graveyard in the world! 


Despite its harsh conditions, the Skeleton Coast is home to wildlife like desert-adapted lions, hyenas, and seals. Its untouched landscapes and haunting history make it one of of the most unique and exciting places to visit in Namibia.


The Skeleton Coast starts from the river dividing the Kunene regions from the Erongo region, and extends all the way towards the border of Angola. Much of it is only accessible by 4x4, and the best way to safely explore this unique area is definitely by hiring a guide.

Namibia’s capital cityis typically where people start or end their trip in Namibia. While it isn't as overwhelming as the other places to visit in the country, Windhoek offers a mix of history, culture, and modern comforts that may be harder to find in other desolate areas of the country. 


It’s the best place to experience Namibia’s diversity, from colonial architecture to vibrant markets, and unique dining experiences. Must-visit spots include Christuskirche, the Independence Memorial Museum, and Joe’s Beerhouse, a true favorite for Namibian cuisine (and one of our favorite restaurants in the country!).
