On our visit to Egypt we had a hard time trying to figure out which were the best beaches of Hurghada, and the differences between them. Now we're here to share all of the details, so that you can have an enjoyable time at Paradise Island, or at one of the other great beaches nearby.

Where is Paradise Island in Hurghada?

Originally, we thought that each of the best beaches in Hurghada was its own island. However, they actually are all situated on the same island, and are pretty close by one another.

Paradise Island is located on Big Giftun Island, which is also where you can find Hula Hula Beach Island, Eden Island, and Orange Bay. These are a few of the other most popular beaches in Hurghada, and can be visited on day trips as well.

Which is Best, Paradise Island or Orange Bay?

Honestly, the beaches are very similar, and there isn't a massive difference between them.

The main differences of the different photo props like the hammocks and swings, the activities offered, and the amount of people visiting.

Paradise Island is the more affordable family-friendly option, while Orange Bay is a bit pricier and more exclusive.

Two other options are Eden Island and Hula Hula, which are other similar beaches in Hurghada along the same coast.

We were told that they are also more expensive to go to, as they have a bit more to offer (we honestly don't know the differences that make them worth going to over Paradise Island).

How to Get to the Best Beaches in Hurghada, Paradise Island

When we first wanted to go to one of the beaches in Hurghada, we thought the best idea would be to head straight for the Hurghada Marina first thing in the morning.

The Hurghada MArina is where all of the boat trips go for the best beaches in Hurghada.

The people selling the tours ended up not showing up until 10 am though, and there were only a couple of people selling the excursions.

Boats typically go out around 10:30 and 11 am, but also fill up ahead of time. We found the prices to also be the same (if not a bit cheaper) on Get Your Guide, so we'd actually recommend booking your tour in advance for the best deal.

How Do I Get to Paradise Island from Hurghada?

Paradise Island is one of the most popular beaches in Hurghada, and therefore is the most affordable, and has the most departures to choose from. Orange Bay is much more expensive in person, and also has less boats going there.

The only way to get to the best beaches in Hurghada (Big Giftun Island) is by boat

We tried asking various locals what the different options were for getting to the different beaches, and everyone said that the only option is to take a tour.

We honestly find this hard to believe considering there are other public beaches on Big Giftun Island, but the tours are super affordable and we had a great time, so we're going to share all of the details for taking a tour to Paradise Island or one of the other best beaches in Hurghada.

The Tours to Paradise Island

Our tour to Paradise Island didn't just include a visit to the beach! We actually had a glass bottom boat which stopped at a reef, a stop for snorkeling, lunch, and a banana boat ride included in the price of our ticket.

This is another plus to taking one of the organized tours, and for the price of just $15, it is certainly worth every penny.

The Boat Ride Towards Paradise Island

The boat ride is really beautiful on the way to paradise Island, and you can either sit outside, or opt to stay inside for the ride.

Just remember to put sunscreen on if you're on the outside deck, as the sun is much stronger than you think!

The Glass Bottom Boat

The boat ride we took had a glass bottom, which was an ideal way to enjoy the underwater experience without having to dive right in.

The glass boat brings you to a reef that is abundant with marine life, and everyone gets to go downstairs where you can see the fish up close.

After the reef the boat brought us to one of the best beaches in Hurghada, Paradise Island. You'll actually notice that from the reef to Paradise Island you'll pass a lot of the other beach clubs. They're pretty similar, and different boat excursions stop at different beaches.

Once you choose your umbrella, you are free to enjoy the next few hours how you please. Each group has a designated lunch hour, but you can also grab food or drinks (even alcoholic ones) from the bar or restaurant before it's time for lunch.

You'll find a swing and hammock in the water, which are very popular for people to take photos, as well as a few different swimming areas, a playground for children, a shisha lounge, and live entertainment, as well as a foam party.

Throughout the day you'll notice different forms of live entertainment. They're performing on stage next to the restaurant, and you'll see singers, belly dancers, and traditional arabic performances to enjoy throughout the late morning.

Paradise Island Foam Party

As soon as we arrived we noticed there was a foam party going on. There was a DJ playing music, and a big foam machine with people dancing in the foam. Suprisingly this was in the morning, and happened before lunch rather than later in the afternoon.

Lunch at paradise Island

We had a barbecue-style buffet lunch which included a salad bar, different breads, BBQ chicken, and an array of pasta, rice, vegetables, and desserts to choose from.

As soon as you finish lunch you can leave at your leisure and enjoy the rest of Paradise Island's amenities until the meeting time to leave.

Snorkeling

Snorkeling is another fun optional (but included) activity that you get to enjoy on most of the island excursions. The equipment is included, and the boat brings you to a specific area in the water where you can find a variety of marine life.

The Banana Boat Ride

The final activity of the Paradise Island excursion we took was a banana boat ride. You can choose whether you want to go for a wild ride and get thrown off, or if you'd prefer just to ride around on a bit less crazy ride.

While we typically would have loved the more adventurous one, the water was super cold, and we opted to stay dry for this one.

The Best Time to Visit the Beaches in Hurghada

We visited Hurghada in March, and it was still a bit windy and cool. While it was sunny and warm overall, the wind but was a bit chilly, and the water was a bit too cold to swim in in our opinion.

The ideal time to enjoy the beaches in Hurghada is in late March or April, when the temperatures are ideal for swimming, but before it's blistering hot there.

September and October are also great months to visit, as temperatuers start to cool down a bit from the summer, but it's still hot enough to enjoy swimming at the incredible beaches in Hurghada.
