The most iconic spot and symbol of the city is without a doubt the Parroquia de San Miguel Arcangel. This pink tinted church towers high and can be seen from almost anywhere in the historical center.
The gorgeous neo-Gothic 17th-century cathedral is known for its soaring pink spires & lofty, ornate sanctuary. Come here and you will seriously feel like you are inside of a Disney film.
Reason to Visit San Miguel de Allende #2: They Have Mayan Inspired Spas
Want to visit the city but also have a relaxing day? Well one of our favorite things to do in San Miguel de Allende is to visit a spa right next to the center. All around the city you can visit different outdoor Mayan-inspired spas, which feature large facilities with different pools sourced by thermal waters.
La Gruta features a tunnel cave leading into a natural sauna.
Our personal favorite is "La Gruta" which features a cave leading to a natural sauna, and also features a manmade waterfall inside. Make sure you make a reservation in advance and bring a towel and swimsuit!

If it's one thing that thrives in San Miguel de Allende, it's its art scene. Artists have been flocking to this city since the 1940's, and it really shows everywhere you go.
The streets are covered in beautiful murals, and there is an entire section of the city that is lined with art galleries, studios, and shops with handmade crafts. You could easily spend hours enjoy the art in this city!

Reason to Visit San Miguel de Allende #4: There is a Hotel Covered in 2,000 Suns
Speaking of art, this hotel itself is a work of art! Casa de los Soles is decorated by different sun pieces that have been accumulated and added to the walls little by little. The hotel now features over 2,000 of them, making this a beautiful place to be any corner you turn.
The hotel offers two large terraces, as well as rooms with interior balconies. Casa de los Soles is located right in the center of San Miguel de Allende and is definitely a unique place to spend a night or two.

Another seriously Instagrammable place is Animas 15. This small and cozy cafรฉ is completely painted and decorated in pink! They offer baked goods, teas, and delicious coffee concoctions. Ironically, this adorable place's address is the same as the name, which makes it pretty easy to find!
Hanging out and having their frappes is one of our favorite ways to enjoy the good vibes of San Miguel de Allende.

One of the best things to do in San Miguel de Allende, is simply to walk around and just enjoy the architecture. You don't even need to look up where to go, because seriously every corner you turn you will find exquisite architecture. Reason to Visit San Miguel de Allende #8: It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site
San Miguel de Allende was originally deemed a Pueblo Magico, which is a pretty prestige title to hold. However, the title was actually taken away 12 years ago! But not for a bad reason- This gorgeous city has actually been upgraded by being declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site on July 8th 2008.
Due to it being a remarkable example of 16th-century Spanish Colonial Baroque architecture, as well as a place of vital importance during the Mexican War of Independence, it has gained it's new title. With such significance in the world, it is without a doubt another great reason to visit San Miguel de Allende.
Reason to Visit San Miguel de Allende #9: It's Right Between Two Gorgeous Cities
As if we didn't have enough reasons to visit San Miguel de Allende, it's location is another reason. It is nestled between two capital cities of two different states, An hour to the South you can head over to Santiago de Queretaro, and just an hour and a half north you can discover another UNESCO world heritage site, Guanajuato.
Guanajuato (top right and left) and Queretaro (bottom) are both right near San Miguel de Allende.

Reason to Visit San Miguel de Allende #10: It is Located Near Plenty of Wineries
Being so close to Queretaro, San Miguel de Allende lies very close to the "Ruta de Arte y Vino". Here you can find plenty of vineyards, where you can learn about the production of wine, as well as attend wine tastings and pairings. A few that are worth checking out are San Lucas, La Santisima Trinidad, and Tres Raices.
