Visit the Flame Towers
The Flame Towers are the most recognizable modern landmarks in Baku, shaped like flames to symbolize the countryโs historical connection to fire. During the day, the reflective glass mirrors the city and Caspian Sea, creating a stunning visual.
Visitors can enjoy nearby parks, viewpoints, and cafes that make for perfect photo opportunities here, but the best part is experiencing the towers right after sunset when LED lights animate the towers with unique patterns and colors.
Whether you admire the towers from a distance or explore the surrounding area, the Flame Towers are a must-see when planning your list of things to do in Baku.
Taking a Free Walking Tour
A free walking tour is one of the best ways to explore Bakuโs Old City and understand its history. Guides share stories about ancient mosques, fortresses, and historic streets while pointing out hidden alleys and local hotspots that many visitors might miss otherwise!
These tours are also a great way to learn practical tips about getting around the city, local customs, and what to see in Baku off-the-beaten-path, helping travelers get the most out of their visit.
Explore the Sea Promenade
The Baku Boulevard stretches along the Caspian Sea just in front of the old town, and is ideal for a leisurely walk. It features parks, fountains, restaurants, and entertainment areas. You can enjoy people-watching and scenic views during the day, while in the evening you can have the chance to see the city lights reflecting off the water.
The promenade is also home to cultural landmarks, gardens, and small attractions that make it one of the most popular places to visit in Baku.
Check Out the Carpet Museum
The Azerbaijan Carpet Museum is one of the top attractions in Baku, and is full of traditional art. You can see carpets from various regions, learn about the weaving process, and discover the stories and symbols that are woven into each design.
The museum also features modern exhibits, showcasing contemporary carpet artists who are keeping this centuries-old craft alive. Itโs a hands-on cultural experience that gives insight into the depth and beauty of Azerbaijani heritage.
