Paracas 2-Day Itinerary - Day 1
Like we said, day 1 will pretty much look the same for everyone. We are making this itinerary to start your activities at 8, but we will also show alternatives for those that want to start their day a bit slower.
⏰ 7:00 am - 8:00 am Get ready for a day of fun
Your first activity for your Paracas 2-day itinerary starts in just an hour! We'd recommend waking up at 7:00 so you have enough time to get ready and have a small breakfast to start your day.
🚤 8:00 am - 9:30/10:00 am Boat ride to Islas Ballestas
Islas Ballestas is Paracas' true claim to fame, and one of the top reasons that people take the trip down to Paracas from Lima.
Known as the "Galapagos of Peru" the Ballestas Islands can only be visited by boat rides, that leave at 8:00, 9:00, and 10:00 AM from the main pier. We'd recommend booking ahead and being ready early for your pick up time or to walk to the meeting spot.
If you'd like to have a bit of a later start to your day, you can get one of the later tours, but truthfully the best time to go for ideal weather and eliminating waiting times is by going first thing in the morning.
🏖 10:00 am - 12:00 pm Enjoy Paracas Beach
After the boat drops you back off it'll still be early enough to enjoy Paracas before it gets too chaotic.
Take a stroll along the malecon, browse the shops, or simply go for a swim. Paracas Beach isn't one of the best beaches in the area, but it's still worth checking out since it's the center of it all.
While at the beach you can also participate in one of the activities like renting a pedal boat or canoe, going jet skiing, or enjoying the inflatable aquatic park.
🐠 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm Have a Seafood lunch
After some fun in the sun, you'll definitely be ready for a bite to eat! Well, Paracas is full of great restaurants, and most of them have incredible seafood lunch specials.
Weather you want to sit at one of the trendy restaurants along the malecon (promenade), or want to head a few streets over for some of the most budget-friendly options, grabbing a lunch menu is essential while in Paracas.
Most lunch menus are between 20-40 soles ($5-$10.50) and include a starter of either ceviche or tiraditos (fresh strips of marinated fish), and come with a main course such as seafood rice or a full fried fish dish.
☀️ 1:00 pm - 7:00 pm Visit Paracas National Reserve
After lunch it's time to explore the second most important attraction in Paracas, which is Paracas National Reserve.
The reserve is a large protected area just south of Paracas town that has beautiful beaches and desert landscapes to explore.
If you have a car you can easily go on your own, or you can rent a bike, hire a taxi, or join a tour. Here are some of the options you can enjoy inside Paracas National Reserve:
🏎 Buggy Tours at Paracas National Reserve
These tours start from Paracas town, and leave at 9:00, 11:00, 1:00, and 3:00 for a 2-hour adventure exploring the park with a group. If you want to see the highlights of Paracas National Reserve in an exciting way, then this is an excellent option.
🪂 Paragliding Tours at Paracas National Reserve
Paragliding tours are 1 hour, and can be joined every hour on the hour from 9 am to 3 pm.
🌅 Golden Shadows Tour at Paracas National Reserve
The golden shadows tour is a trekking adventure to some of the coolest formations in Paracas National Reserve. Tours are 3-4 hours, typically starting at 3 pm and finishing with the most stunning sunset in Paracas.
Whether you decide to relax at the beach with your family or explore the reserve with an exciting adventure, Paracas National Reserve is a must for your Paracas 2-day itinerary.
You could easily spend several hours at Paracas National Reserve.
🚿 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm Get ready for dinner
After a beautiful sunset it's time to head back to the hotel and reset. Take a nap, shower, and just get yourself ready for a nice diner.
