Where are Siete Cascadas?
This group of stunning falls can be found just outside the small town of Juayua. Juayua is known as being the 3rd of the 5 towns located along the famous "Ruta de Las Flores".
Looking for a place in Juayua to stay? The map below offers different accommodation options:
How to Get to Siete Cascadas From Juayua
Siete Cascadas is 3 KM outside the center of Juayua. Walking is actually just about 40 minutes, and taxis are also available to take people to the start as well.
If you rent a car make sure to drive carefully, as the road can be a little rocky. If you are going with a guide, the drive will be just 10-15 minutes, and the guide will help with parking if you decide to bring your own vehicle. In our experience, we drove, and our guide had us park in a private parking spot that costed $1.
How Long Is The Siete Cascadas Hike?
The hike itself to the falls is pretty simple. There is a straight dirt trail, and it takes about a half hour to get to the first of the falls. After that, each fall comes one after the other.
The reason that going to Siete Cascadas takes a few hours, is because there are seven unique cascades, all which deserve a small stop. There are also wait times, as groups sometimes need to wait for one another to make it to the next area.

How Much Does Las Siete Cascadas Cost?
The hike itself is actually free of charge. There is no ticket necessary to enter the area. The only costs for this will be if you decide to use private parking, pay for a taxi there, or hire a guide. We will get into each separate cost throughout the rest of the article.

Do I Need A Guide for Siete Cascadas?
It is not obligatory for a guide, but they are definitely recommended. The falls themselves can be navigated in the beginning, but the third fall needs to be climbed with the use of a rope.
All guides bring their own ropes, and have a lot of practice and expertise to make sure that you can climb up safely.

Tours include guides, and are offered by many hostels and hotels who know the locals. The cost is usually $20-25, and they come straight to your accommodation to pick you up. In our case, we used our own rental car to bring the guide with us, but that doesn't need to be the case.

What Should I Bring to Las Siete Cascadas?
The most important thing to bring is proper footwear. The dirt on the hike down is pretty slippery, so make sure to have shoes with proper traction.
Another thing to keep in mind, is that there will be times that you will need to walk through the water. We suggest bringing water shoes if you have them, or having a good pair of sneakers, as well as a pair of flip flops to change into.
We suggest bringing both flip flops and sneakers for the hike.
A bathing suit and a towel are a must, as this is an activity where you will definitely get wet!
As far as photography goes, we think having a waterproof action camera is extremely helpful. (We use the Insta360 as it's compact and can capture 360 degrees). That way you can capture the adventure, without sacrificing ruining your gear. We also brought a professional camera and tripod, but had to have a waterproof backpack to keep everything from getting wet.
Lastly, we suggest bringing some bug spray. The mosquitos are so tiny that you won't even see them, but trust us-they're everywhere! Before you know it you will get eaten alive if you don't bring a good bug spray.
Packing list for Siete Cascadas:

- Sneakers
