Best Places to Visit in Peru #3: Huacachina
How many times have you read or heard of the meaning of an oasis? A pleasant source of water and nature in the middle of the desert, where nothing can grow or live. Sounds like it is out of a fairytale, right?. Well, luckily for all of us, you don’t need to take a long trip to the middle of nowhere to find these spots.
Huacachina is just a 9 minute drive (or 48 minute walk if you'd rather go for a quick hike) from Ica, a city in the north of Perú. This small, but beautiful gem is a great place where you can get a great mix of fun and relaxation.
Here you can ride in a buggy in the dunes, go sandboarding, and hike up to admire the views of this truly magical place. Huacachina is one of the best places to visit in Peru, and certainly a unique one. It can even be visited as a day trip from Lima or Paracas.

The Andes mountains are one of the best places to visit in Peru for those nature lovers out there.
Cordillera Huayhuash and Cordillera Blanca are two mountain ranges within the Andes of Peru, that are incredibly breathtaking. Explore along the boundaries of the regions of Ancash, Lima and Huánuco and you will find some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. Nestled between these mountains are numerous lakes with the most turquoise waters you can find.
You can visit for a couple of days, or weeks here! There are plenty of trekking trips available from Lima and Huaraz. If you are planning to do a long trek, make sure you are well packed with all of your travel essentials. With the high altitudes and changing temperatures, these hikes are no joke.

You can reach the Colca Canyon by taking a bus or renting a car from Arequipa, one of the most popular cities in Peru. It is a couple of hours away, and can be done as a day trip or you can spend a night or two.
Want to know what you will see in Colca Canyon? While hiking you will pass by several tiny towns until you find one of the canyon’s hidden gems.
