There are so many valleys in Cappadocia! But if you're short on time, we're first going to share the top valleys in the area to explore.
Love Valley
Love Valley is hands-down the most iconic of all of the valleys in Cappadocia. It's famous for it's unique landscapes, which give the valley its name (if you know, you know).
Sitting right next to Goreme, this is the famous valley where you'll find all of the hot air balloons flying over, and it has several great viewing areas for sunrise, sunset, and of course, the balloons.

Love Valley has some of the most iconic views in Cappadocia.
Pigeon Valley
Pigeon Valley is probably the second most popular valley in the area. The valley gets its name from the pigeon houses carved into the cliffs, which locals once used for fertilizer.
Sitting right below Uchisar (where some of the best hotels in Cappadocia lie) you'll find a ton of fairy chimneys and iconic views to enjoy, making it one of our favorite valleys in Cappadocia, and one of the most convenient to reach on foot.
Rocket Valley
Now that you know Love Valley has its name from its special formations, you can take a good guess why rocket valley has its name!
It’s one of the lesser-known valleys in Cappadocia, but it’s well worth a visit if you’re exploring the area around Çavuşin. The landscape here is wild and unique, and the hike is peaceful with few other tourists around.
If you’re into photography or just want to experience something a little different, Rocket Valley is a cool stop to add to your itinerary.

Red Valley
Cappadocia is all the rave at sunrise, but you definitely don't want to miss out on some of the best places in Cappadocia for sunset!
If you're looking for some absolutely breathtaking views, then don't miss out on spending your afternoon in Red Valley. We actually think it should be called "Rainbow Valley" because I mean, look at those colors!
You can experience a free area of Red Valley (where we're standing), or for just 5 euros you can go into the paid area that has easy trails, a variety of viewpoints, and even an adorable cafe tucked in between mountains.
Rose Valley
Rose Valley is one of the most famous valleys in Cappadocia, known for its pink-hued rocks that glow beautifully at sunset.
The hiking paths here wind through old cave churches and tunnels, and there’s plenty of room to explore off the main track.
Not only is it great to walk around on your own, but to really get the best feel for this large area and see some of the hidden gems, you can sign up for an ATV or jeep tour to you on a fun ride around the valley! It’s a great choice if you want something scenic and also a bit more excitement involved in your valley visits.

Pasabag Valley
Pasabag Valley, also known as Monks Valley, is famous for its towering fairy chimneys, which are some of the most iconic rock formations in Cappadocia.
The valley is small and easy to explore, making it perfect for a short visit. If you’re interested in Cappadocia’s history, you’ll find ancient hermit dwellings carved into the stone, once used by monks seeking solitude.
It’s one of the most visually striking valleys in Cappadocia and a must-see if you’re short on time.

💭 Devrent Valley
Located just behind Pasabag Valley is one of the best free valleys in Cappadocia to explore. While it doesn't have hiking trails like the others, it still has some incredible formations, a viewpoint at the top, and is particularly beautiful to visit during sunset.
Ihlara Valley
Located further out from Göreme, Ihlara Valley is worth the extra effort to reach. It’s one of the largest and deepest valleys in Cappadocia, carved by a river and filled with lush greenery and hidden cave churches.
You can easily visit on a day trip from Goreme or Uchisar, or rent a car and drive there. The full hike can take several hours, but it’s possible to just walk a portion and still enjoy the views, or to admire it from above!
Soganli Valley
Soganli Valley is more off-the-beaten-path and gives a totally different vibe from the busier valleys in Cappadocia. Located about an hour’s drive from Göreme, this valley is quiet, green, and full of centuries-old cave churches that feel untouched.
The surrounding villages in Soganli Valley also offer a more traditional glimpse into local life, and it’s a great spot to slow down and enjoy nature away from the crowds.
You can also find that a lot of balloon companies fly their balloons in Soganli Valley! So it can be a great place to go for sunrise, or a more affordable alternative for hot air balloon rides.
