Riga in Summer: a Brief Intro

Before we get into all of the fun summer activities in Riga, we'd like to tell you a bit about what Riga in summer is like, so you can see if it's an ideal time for you to visit.

🔥 Is Latvia Warm in Summer?

Yes, Latvia is surprisingly warm in the summer, especially if you’re used to colder northern European weather. While it’s not crazy hot like southern Spain or Greece, you’ll still get plenty of sunny days and perfectly pleasant temperatures.

It’s warm enough to swim at the beach, hang out in parks, and enjoy outdoor events without a jacket, making it a really ideal destination for those that want more comfortable temperatures in the summertime.

📆 What is the Hottest Month in Riga?

The hottest month in Riga is usually July. That’s when the sun is at its strongest and the city feels the most alive. It’s also the best time to visit if you want guaranteed warm weather, but keep in mind it’s also the most popular month when it comes to tourism.

🥵 How Hot is Riga in July?

July temperatures in Riga usually hover around 20°C to 27°C (68°F to 81°F) during the day. On hotter days, it can even get as high as 30°C (the low 90's!). Nights cool down a little but stay mild enough for evening walks along the Daugava or drinks on a rooftop terrace.

It's not overbearingly hot like southern Europe, and while it's buzzing, it's not absurdly packed with tourists like the cities along the Mediterranean, making it a super ideal option for those wanting something a little different, but equally fun.
