1. Positano Beach
Positano is hands down the most beloved spot of the Amalfi Coast. The beach is iconic with its stunning backdrop of colorful buildings built right into to striking hills of Positano.
Walk down to the beach and you'll have plenty of great photographic opportunities, whether its along the soft sands, in the refreshing waters, or between the bright blue umbrellas perfectly lining the beach.
Want to book your ticket to Positano? Here are a few different options:
- Naples to Positano Shuttle
- Sorrento to Positano Transportation Options
- Amalfi Town to Positano Ferry
- Salerno to Positano Ferry
- Capri to Positano Ferry
2. Positano Fruit Stand
Just a few minute drive outside of Positano lies the cutest fruit stand you'll ever see. Right off the side of the highway the legendary Salvatore sits with his super Instagrammable shop selling a fresh variety of colorful fruits.
Not only has he decorated it for the perfect photo opportunities, but he also playfully interacts with guests to pose in different ways with his produce. We ended up spending an entire half hour here having a full photo shoot, laughing a ton, and of course walking away with plenty goodies to bring back to our kitchen.

3. Duomo di Amalfi
Most of the best places in the Amalfi Coast include the gorgeous views of the landscapes. However, we can't help but mention that the Duomo di Amalfi is a true beauty itself.
The Cathedral has magnificent architecture, and can be appreciated both inside and out. The entry for Duomi di Amalfi is 4.50 euros, and is open from 1 pm to 6:30 pm.
We think the Cathedral is simply magnificent both during the day, and at night. We suggest going super early if you want a shot with less people around.
Pro Tip: Grab a tripod and set up your shot to take a few pictures. There are always a lot of people, so you can layer your shots after for less people, or use photoshop like we did.

4. Fiordo di Furore
Fiordi di Furore is a small beach tucked away into the mountain with a breathtaking bridge towering above it.
The giant arch makes for beautiful framing on your photos, and can be appreciated from the beach below, or by boat tour from the outside. A bonus is that the beach is completely free of charge to visit!
Fiordo di Furore is reached by walking down a set of stone stairs on the left side of the beach, taking you down to the sand. We suggest going here earlier in the day for maximum sunshine.
Want to get a boat ride that passes through Firodi di Furore? Here are a few different ones to choose from:
5. Grotto dello Smeraldo
Just a little further down the road from Fiordo di Furore is a true hidden gem of the Amalfi coast.
"Grotto dello Smeraldo" meaning Emerald Cave, is significant of just how beautiful this place is. The cave can be visited by boat tour, or by going on your own. It can be found right off the side of the highway, with a set of stairs and elevator leading down to it.
You can visit here by buying a ticket for a boat tour. Local Italian men will row you around the cave, telling tales of the magical location. Tours are about 15-30 minutes, and cost 5 euros.
Note: There is no swimming inside the grotto, boats are shared with other people, and go one after the other. There is also a large ceramic store you can check out while in the area, and incredible restaurants in the town of Conca dei Marini.
Want to do a boat tour that includes a stop here? Here are a few options to choose from:
6. Conca dei Marini
This quiet neighborhood is located between Positano and Amalfi Town, and is where we spent our 10-day stay along the Amalfi Coast.
Jutting out from the mountain, you can really appreciate the views of the surrounding towns tucked into the mountainside. There is also a small church where you can walk down and enjoy a magical sunrise and sunset.
7. Atrani Beach
Just a stones throw from Amalfi, Atrani can easily be reached by foot waking from Amalfi in 10 minutes.
Atrani has a beautiful beach, which is what Amalfi town is missing. This is also a great place to be able to easily reach Ravello, which we'll talk about later in the article.
With Ravello sitting high above, its colorful umbrellas, and beautiful turquoise waters, Atrani is definitely one of the best places in the Amalfi Coast for the photographer's out there.
Don't have time to read the whole article and want to save it for later? Just pin it!
8. Vietri Sul Mare
Vietri Sul Mare is a true hidden gem, and one of the best places in the Amalfi Coast for those small town vibes.
This tiny town is known for its ceramic factories, and has beautiful tiles and art along its streets. Our favorite part though, is right down the hill next to the seaside, where you can find a tiny street painted with bright colors.
The ceramics in Vietri Sul Mare are much cheaper than those sold in shops in the bigger towns such as Positano and Amalfi Town.
While you're in the area, here are also some great activities to check out:
9. Salerno Marina
Salerno is the end of the Amalfi Coast, and is truly unique to the rest of the villages along the Amalfi Coast
This is because Salerno is a big city, unlike the small towns that dot the rest of the coast. The marina is enormous, and is a hub for the ferry. Here you'll find a beautiful display of boats lined up one after the other, with the breathtaking mountains in the background.
There are plenty of different shots you can get here, whether its facing the water, the mountains, or the castle perched high in the hillside.
Want to set up your transportation to Salerno? Here are some of the ticket options:
- Amalfi Town to Salerno Ferry
- Capri to Salerno Ferry
- Positano to Salerno Ferry
- Naples to Salerno Transportation Options
- Sorrento to Salerno Private Car

10. Castello di Arechi
Want to see something a little different than the beaches and small colorful towns? Castello di Archeci isa medieval castle sitting high in the hills of Salerno, 300 meters above sea level.
The architecture will take you back hundreds of years. Meanwhile, the views of the city below and the shimmering sea will leave you in awe.
The castle is open Tuesday to Saturday from 9 am to 5 pm, and from 9 am to 5:30 pm on Sundays. It is closed on Mondays, and tickets cost just 3 euros to enter.
11. Faraglioni di Capri
This is our number one destination for Instagrammable spots in the Amalfi Coast. While it isn't necessarily located along the coast, it makes for one of the best places to visit if you are in the area. The island of Capri is one of the most beautiful spots in Italy, and can be reached by boat from Positano or Amalfi Town.
Faraglioni di Capri is the most breathtaking landscape, hence it being in so many commercials, movies, and advertisements. The legendary trio of sea giants can be seen by taking a boat tour around the Italian island.
The stunning formations can be appreciated from sunrise to sunset, from down below, or up in the air. We used our drone to truly capture the massive beauty of Faraglioni di Capri.
Here are some options for getting to the island of Capri:
- Naples to Capri Ferry
- Sorrento to Capri Ferry
- Positano to Capri Ferry
- Amalfi Town to Capri Ferry
- Salerno to Capri Ferry
Here are also some boat rides that you can take to visit this destination:
13. Via Cristoforo Colombo
This is the street that sits right above Positano, giving you those postcard worthy views. Here you can find a number of restaurants and hotels, that give the absolute best views of Positano.
To find the location below, you must look for the stairs going down right off the side of the street.
Want to book your ticket to Positano? Here are a few different options:
- Naples to Positano Shuttle
- Sorrento to Positano Transportation Options
- Amalfi Town to Positano Ferry
- Salerno to Positano Ferry
- Capri to Positano Ferry
14. Le Sirenuse
This has to be the most stunning hotel in Positano, and one of the best places to stay in the Amalfi Coast (if you can afford it). It sits above Positano, right along Via Cristoforo Colombo. The gorgeous property is family run, and has an iconic pool jutting out with the best backdrop you could ever ask for.
This Instagrammable shot doesn't come cheap though. A night at Le Sirenuse costs a couple of thousand euros a night!

Roam the streets of Positano and you will have plenty of opportunities to take out your camera. One of our favorite spots inside town though, is Delicatessen SNC.

This deli is perfectly located on a corner, sharing a small street on one side, and a set of stairs on the other. This is a pretty highly trafficked area, so we definitely suggest going early, or trying to take your shot quick if you are using a tripod, to avoid blocking the walkway.

- Naples to Positano Shuttle
- Sorrento to Positano Transportation Options
- Amalfi Town to Positano Ferry
- Salerno to Positano Ferry

16. Cetara Beach
In our opinion, Cetara is one of the most Instagrammable spots in the Amalfi Coast.
It is much less visited than the famous Positano or Amalfi Town, but can still be easily visited as it is connected with the ferry, as well as the buses.
The charming town sits perfectly on the beach, and has a pier jutting out where you can truly appreciate the beauty of the church and colorful buildings. As a bonus? Walk into town and you will also find some great photo opportunities.
17. Bonus: From the Ferry
The Amalfi Coast is a truly stunning place. While there are so many great ways to enjoy the colorful cities, our favorite way is from the sea.
With a boat excursion you can really capture the beauty in a different way, and add a flare to your Amalfi photography.
But did you know that the ferry is a fraction of the price, with many of the same views? Sure the ferry won't stop for you, but if you want to save, but still get the fabulous views of the coast from afar, then riding on the ferry is definitely for you.
Here are some of the most popular routes on the ferry that you can choose from:
- Amalfi Town to Capri Ferry
- Amalfi Town to Positano Ferry
- Amalfi Town to Salerno Ferry
- Capri to Amalfi Town
- Capri to Positano Ferry
- Capri to Salerno Ferry
- Positano to Amalfi Town Ferry
- Positano to Capri Ferry
- Positano to Salerno Ferry
- Salerno to Amalfi Town Ferry

Best Places in the Amalfi Coast: Tips for Getting Pictures at the Most Instagrammable Spots in the Amalfi Coast
- Wake up early! The best places in the Amalfi Coast tend to get very crowded. Going early will ensure you have less crowds, and better lighting.
- Use a Tripod. This will be the easiest way to get your ideal shot, and you can also merge photos if people are walking in and out of shots.
- Bring a Drone! There are so many amazing Instagrammable spots in the Amalfi coast that are best captured from above. We use the Mavic Mini Pro 3 because it's super light and doesn't sacrifice quality.
- Also bring a GoPro (or something similar). The Amalfi coast has tons of beautiful places along the water to capture, and it'll be less stressful with something waterproof. We use the Insta 360 X3.
