1. Raices (One of the Most Iconic Tourist Restaurants in San Juan)
This is hands down one of the top restaurants in San Juan, Puerto Rico! Raices is the most traditional restaurant in the city you will find, from the decorations, to the food, to the way the employees are dressed.
This restaurant is known for their mofongo and their Piña coladas, so make sure to try them both! Raices is conveniently located in the center of Old San Juan, and actually also opened another location due to its popularity!
The second location is actually close to the airport, making it a great place to have your last meal before heading back home.

2. ChocoBar (One of the Best Restaurants in San Juan for Chocolate Lovers
This is another must visit when it comes to going out to eat and drink in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The entire restaurant is revolved around chocolate! The second you walk in you will intoxicated by the smell here.

Chocobar’s signature dish is the chocolate grilled cheese.
3. Stuffed Avocado Shop (One of the Best Restaurants in San Juan for Vegetarians or Pescatarians)
Located just across the street from the Chocobar is the Stuffed Avocado Shop. This place is great for those avocado lovers, as well as those who like Poke! You can change up the ingredients too for those that don’t want rice as the base of their bowl, which was a true highlight for us as those that are not major rice-fanatics.
While the Stuffed Avocado shop is not something for local cuisine or Michelin-style food, it’s a great spot for something a bit more fresh.
Our personal recommendations are the salmon bowl and the tuna bowl! Stuffed Avocado is an excellent option for those needing a break from the typically fried foods and heavy cuisine of the island.

Make sure to try one of their awesome poke bowls.
4. Anita’s Gelato (One of the Best Places to Eat in San Juan for Ice Cream)
Looking to cool off from the Puerto Rican heat? Look no further than this brand new ice cream shop that is just on the corner of Calle Fortaleza (where the giant Puerto Rican flag is).
This place is not only adorable inside, but has the best gelato creations you will see outside of Italy. They have tons of interesting flavors like salted caramel pretzel and mascarpone ricotta, and they couldn’t be more creamy or delicious. Not to mention the people that work there are the sweetest you’ll ever encounter.
Overall, this is one of the best places to eat ice cream in San Juan, and an excellent edition to your Puerto Rico itinerary.

Anita’s Gelato features a variety of drool-worthy flavors.

Here is another place that is going to bring you some Mediterranean vibes. When it comes to food and drinks in San Juan, this place has all the boxes ticked!
This tapas style restaurant has chic vibes and tasty dishes without the high prices! They even have little balconies that you can sit on, so you can sip on your wine while people watching from the second floor. We suggest getting a lot of small plates and sharing to fully enjoy their great menu.
Did we mention their customer service? Every person we came in contact with was so down to earth and friendly making us feel right at home. This truly is the all-around perfect experience when looking for incredible restaurants in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Make sure to grab a table on the balcony for a super romantic night.

This is one of our favorite spots to eat and drink in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Not only for their restaurant, but for the hotel! This place is a true hidden gem in the city, and one of the most charming restaurants in San Juan’s Old Town.
The Cannon Club is a piano bar that features Steinway pianos, outdoor and indoor seating, and even exotic birds! The owner has also decorated the entire place with art she has created over the years. Every corner you turn in this place you will become more amazed!
If you get a chance, spend a night upstairs from the bar at the Gallery Inn. It is one of the most unique and extraordinary places that we have ever stayed, The story behind the building, the art, and artist’s touch add so much charm that we will keep going back!

The Cannon club has the best vibe of all of the restaurants in San Juan, Puerto Rico we’ve tried.
7. Lote 23 (One of the Best Places to Eat in San Juan for Variety)
Here’s a spot that is actually located outside of Old San Juan, but definitely worth the short ride away. Lote 23 is a clean and trendy food truck venue that can be found in Santurce (where you can also find another smaller food truck venue).
Here you will find such a great variety of cuisines, and a full gastronomic park. Our two favorite trucks were the Poke Bowls at El Jangiri, and the pita sandwiches at Tia Dora.

Lote 23 has a bunch of food trucks with a variety of different cuisines.
8. El Jibarito (One of the Best Restaurants in San Juan for a Local Feel)
El Jibarito is one of restaurants in San JuanPuerto Rico that we really loved due to it’s truly authentic food. This spot was recommended to us by several locals, so we had to try it.
The restaurant itself is small and brightly colored, making it a very welcoming atmosphere. The menu is traditional Puerto Rican cuisine, with tasty and affordable food.

El Jibarito is a local place full of color.
9. Pirilo (One of the Best Restaurants in San Juan for Pizza & Great Service)
We love this spot because it’s got great service, delicious food, and just all-round good vibes. Pirilo specializes in pizza, but has plenty of awesome menu options. Everything from the tapas to the steak was so good, and our waitress and the bartender were attentive, always having a smile on their faces.

Pirilo is an all round great spot to eat in San Juan for its prices, taste, and service.
10. Al Fresco (One of the Best Rooftop Restaurants in San Juan)
This rooftop bar has some pretty great views, and is the perfect place to grab a drink and an app. It’s actually located one level above The Mezzanine!
