Best Tropical Getaways Destination #5: Colombia

There's a common misconception that the best tropical getaways are all in the Caribbean. Well, South America isn't all that far, and Colombia is pretty much just as close as many of the Caribbean islands!

Colombia is cheap, colorful, and has the best coffee in the world. Cartagena is vibrant and has incredible beaches and rich culture. Head up the coast a bit and you'll find Santa Marta, which is super green and perfect for those that want a bit more adventure in their trip.

If you're not interested in beaches and want a trip full of history and color, then you can head to Medellin, known for its eternal spring (pleasant and sunny weather year-round), making a trip to Guatape, an adorable rainbow painted town with the striking Piedra del Peñol. Whatever you choose though, we know you won't regret choosing Colombia for your cheap tropical getaway.
